Salvo's Tin Food & Blanket Ride
The day started out great, unlike the last few years
for this event which were wet. It was sunny and warm and about 30 bikes from the
Branch met at Hexham McDonalds, along with a couple of 4 wheeled
varieties, for the short ride to Sandgate Markets. Unfortunately, we were in a 4 wheeled variety as the Rocket didn't want to fire up! Brian was not happy.
There were around 300 bikes in all taking off on the
ride through Mayfield, into Newcastle and finally to the carpark at Bar
Beach. The Salvo’s van was quickly filled with blankets and tinned food thanks to the generosity of all the bikers attending.
A few quick speeches and it was all over. Thank you to all those that attended and donated
generously to those less fortunate than ourselves. Lynne Fitzpatrick |
