Nowra Ride 2008

Nowra - Ride Report

Grey skies saw the start of the October long weekend and 24 people make the trip to Nowra - 16 bikes, 6 with pillions, one 4WD and one car. 13 bikes left from Cessnock , 3 bikes and a 4WD from twin servos.

Charlie lead the trip from twin servos with Chris, Mick then Brian and Lynne in the 4WD. Chris put on the wet weather parts to keep away the rain which worked OK until the M7 where Charlie said it wasn’t going to rain and off course, down it came. There was some slow moving traffic when a car full of Indians started videoing the bikes - they’ve made it to Bollywood!! We went via Mittagong, Bowral and Moss Vale where Charlie stopped some pedestrians to admire their black poodle (sure Charlie!). Must remind Charlie to use those indicators when he is ride leader. We met Kim and Jenny Kennerson at Kangaroo Valley travelling on 4 wheels before arriving at Nowra around 2.30. The Cessnock group arrived a little later around 5 after, we are told, many u-turns.

Dinner was at the Bomaderry Bowling Club - Davo the bus driving biker got us there safely, just …

Saturday morning, still grey skies but no rain today. After breakfast at The Boatshed and a couple of bike photos around a dozen bikes headed to Huskisson to look around. The boys headed to the Husky Pub, where the serious shoppers, Wendy, Chris and Bett, took to the shops while Deb carried around her helmet with the new tinted visor. She just didn‘t want to put it down. The girls finally made it to the pub wearing their club vests which sent the publican into a spin and suggesting it wasn’t appropriate to show our logo. Time to head back but poor Dallas, his new bike didn’t want to leave. After a few false starts we were all on the road and back at the motel for an early happy hour and return to Bomaderry Bowlo to watch the GP and the footy. John was the lucky winner of our little comp picking winner of the grand final winning the magnificent sum of $17.00. The evening saw a few become a little worse for wear. For a few special people, Wendy treated us to a show on the way home!!

Monday morning and blue skies - typical. We were all packing up and surprised to see John still there. Why? He didn’t know how to get home!! After Deb being so protective of her helmet with the tinted visor, it had gone missing and she couldn’t find it anywhere. Wait, there it is, going down the drive on a body behind Dallas on the bike! Deb knew it wasn’t her and couldn’t believe her eyes!! We parted company with Kim and Jenny at the motel, thanks for making the trip, great to see you! Davo from the bowling club joined us this morning to lead us over the Sea Cliff Bridge after a stop for some great pies. What a fantastic view. A fuel stop at Heathcote and we were homeward bound with a late lunch stop at the twin servos. Thanks Betty & Pete for organising the weekend, it was great.
