Memorial Day 2010
9am... Sunday 12th September 2010
149 bikes with riders/pillions from Newcastle Lower Hunter, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Coalfields, Forster, Upper Hunter and the Central Coast branches gathered at Hexham McDonalds to remember members and friends who had ridden on.
Garry Hughes led the memorial ride to Maitland Park where the bagpiper played the riders into the rotunda area for the service.
We had many people waiting at Maitland Park who had driven their cars and RV's etc. ready for the riders to arrive.
Howard Mole from the Salvation Army conducted the memorial service with members from branches speaking to remember their friends who had ridden on.
As usual, thankyou Howard.
The service was followed by a BBQ ran by Newcastle Lower Hunter. All profits went to UCARF.
Thanks must go to Garry Hughes and the acting NLH committee for organising such a successful memorial ride and all the hard work involved with the BBQ on the day.
This years ride has grown in numbers, perhaps next year Garry should think about the ride leaving in two groups as there were problems with traffic flow around such a large group of bikes.
