Our last ride(s)

I assume everyone’s life is a busy as mine is at present and no one has been on any rides.  If they have I have not had any stories sent to me to put in the newsletter.  We now have a couple of new conscientious ride Co-ordinators and they have given me a ride calendar that takes us right thru till February 2007.  Check out the Calendar on the web site.

Our next ride(s)

We have a short ride on Sunday 9th July to Gravesend for lunch.  Meet at Maccas at 10.30 to leave for Gravesend at 11.00am.  The cost of lunch will be approx. $10.00 per person.

On Saturday 22nd July, there will be a ride to the Transport Museum at Inverell.  For those of you that would like to make a weekend of it, we have arranged accommodation at Blair Athol B & B.  Lunch will be at Inverell at a place to be decided.

The accommodation at Blair Athol with nibblies on arrival, 3-course dinner with complimentary port and a fully cooked breakfast will be $238.00 per couple.  You can also BYO drinks.

There will be someone driving their car, so we can stock up with alcohol at Inverell.  For those of you that would like to make just a day ride, we plan on leaving the Mehi River Van Park at 9.30 on the morning of 22nd July with a short stop at Warialda then on to the Transport Museum at Inverell.

Those people that are staying at Blair Athol for the night will head off around 3.30pm from Inverell to Blair Athol.  That will get the day-trippers back into Moree at approx. 5.00pm.

We do need numbers and a deposit for this ASAP, so if you would like to go and spend the night in the haunted Mansion at Inverell, give me a call – numbers are limited.

Welcome to New Members

Barry & Sharlene Mundy from Wee Waa have joined our little group.  Barry was nominated at the last meeting to be the Vice President.  Welcome Barry and Sharlene – we look forward to many long rides with you both.

Moree Muster

All of you that were at the Muster know what a great night was had by all.  We will give it a rest until October this year before we start planning 2007.  I would just like to say a big Thank You to everyone that gave up their time to do the many tasks that were required to make 2006 Moree Muster as successful as it was.  As is always the case with any group there are only ever a few people who put these things together and here in Moree we seem to do the impossible with very few – you all know who you are – so once again Many Thanks to everyone involved.

Monthly Meeting

The next meeting of the Cotton Country Cruisers will be held at Ian and Margaret Heferen’s home at 71 Dover Street, Moree.  The cost will be approx. $7.00 per head for a delicious home cooked meal.  The meeting will start at 6.30pm with dinner at 7.30pm.  You will need to call and let me know if you intend coming to the dinner meeting for catering purposes.  My number is 6752 7188.

Next Meeting

Our next Bi Monthly meeting will be held at Wee Waa at Barry and Sharlene Mundy’s home 0n 9th September.  This can either be a day ride or an overnighter  - more details on the ride calendar and I will give more details in August.

Our Last Meeting

The last Meeting of the Cotton Country Cruisers was held at Neville and Roz Rose’s home.  This was the AGM – so listed below is your new Committee for the next 12 months.

Important Stuff to Remember

Next Meeting at the Heferens on Saturday 8th July with a ride on Sunday 9th July to Gravesend for lunch.  Numbers are needed for both functions.  Numbers are also required for the weekend to the Transport Museum if you intend spending the night at Blair Athol.  A deposit is also required.  Please call me with your intention to attend any of the above by Friday 7th July on 6752 7188.

Ride Protocol

1.      We are an informal group of the Ulysses Club Inc. As such we do not have a committee and we do not carry Public Liability or other insurance on behalf of our group.

2.      If you ride with us we assume that you are a licensed rider, that your bike is registered and roadworthy and that you have appropriate personal insurances in place, or accept the consequences of not having done so.

3.      We also assume that you, like us, accept that there are potential risks in riding bikes on public roads.

4.      Our rides run on an informal basis. We do not have a “ride captain” as such and the person who is “leader” will depend on who is there at the time, and this may change from time to time during a run.

5.      Before setting out we count the bikes and nominate where the next stopping point will be.

6.      At each stopping point we will wait until all bikes have been accounted for.

7.      If you are leaving a run midway please make sure the other riders know your intentions.

8.      We do not ride in formation. Each rider is encouraged to travel at their own pace. If riders get behind, we regather at the next stopping off point.

9.      It is quite OK to pass other riders, even the “Leader”, provided you do so safely.

10. Do NOT ride up the tail of the bike in front; we consider a gap of at least 3 seconds is appropriate.

11. Do not put pressure on other riders; you cannot be sure how they will react.

12. Ride within your own comfort zone.

13. Keep and eye out for the rider behind you in case they get into trouble.

14. We’re here to enjoy our bikes and each others company; we assume you are here for the same reason!!

And once again many thanks to our Sponsors, Thomas Lee Motorcycles in Moree (and now Gundy) and Grant Douch Motorcycles Narrabri. Their support through discounts to members and the providing of valuable raffle prizes is greatly appreciated.
