September Presidents Report.

I would like to thank Keith our Quartermaster for his ongoing support to our branch & his efforts on running our store he has done an exception job & we all wish him well playing with his new tonka toys in Gove.

Thanks to James Stewart for stepping up & offering to take over the job of “Q” he will be our new supplier of 007 Ulysses goodies when Keith hands over the reins.

We are getting near the end of another year and I would urge all our members who are coming to our Christmas party to arrange their accommodation at the Woolgoolga caravan park if they haven’t already done so as not to miss out on wonderful night.

We would also like you the members to put on your thinking caps as to a theme for the party & bring your ideas to the next quarterly meeting.

We are starting the Executive meeting on the 8th September at 5.30pm so the ride meeting can start early approx 6.30pm as we are going to arrange a ride calendar for the next 6 months this will require a slightly longer meeting & all ideas are very welcome.

On the 14th September Scott Rodham will again hold our Ridden on memorial service at Beacon Hill.

Also the Wheels Skills rider training is on the 15 & 16 of November.

There is a lot happening in our branch over the next few months I hope every one enjoys it all.

Cheers.

Brian

RIDE  REPORT  South West Rocks Sunday 31st August
Whale of a time at Trial Bay. No white pointers today.  It was an overcast day but the rain held off and 23 bikes and a trike had an enjoyable ride south. President Brian came to wave us off, he has a bad case of the flu, so is laying low. We detoured through Grassy Head road but were held up in the twisties by traffic which was disappointing. After a coffee break at Clybucca we toured on to Trial Bay jail for some whale watching as it was blowing a gale we did the usual and stood around and talked bikes and told jokes. We had a pleasant lunch at the Country Club $11.80 for all you can eat. Peter Maynard won the raffle. He had a choice of a $10 scratchie of a bottle of my home brew whiskey, he couldn’t make up his mind so I gave him both. A few of us stopped at Macksville servo on the way home and we all thanked Wayne Brown for not showing as it kept the rain away.  Cheers David Barter.

TOP BOX  FIXING

When I installed the top box on my Honda Deuville the engineers went to a lot of trouble to have two plates that moved sideways over four rubber mounts which the instructions said to grease lightly if plates start sticking. After about ten months I was riding along and thought I had a puncture but tyres were ok so I put it down to the gusty Ebor winds. I checked the box and it still moved, however I greased it and was amazed at the difference in handling. Bernie said my box constantly shakes from side to side but I can’t feel it. Another example of modern bikes reaping the benefits of years of research. David Barter.

CHANGE  OF  QUARTERMASTER                                                        Our quartermaster Keith is leaving in about two weeks for job in the mines. He is going to Gove in the Northen Territory . He will be on big money and plans to retire at 55. It works well because he can be back every 6 weeks. We wish him well and wonder why arn’t I doing that? Well he’s a Fitter and Turner and told me there is no openings there for a gardner. James Stuart has agreed to take over the job so we welcome him to the task and thank Keith for his hard work and attention to detail.   James Stuart.                                                                                                     **************************************************************************

A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs.  Suddenly, her husband burst into the  kitchen. 'Careful,' he said, 'CAREFUL! Put in some more butter!  Oh my GOD!
You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN  THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my GOD! WHERE are we going to get MORE  BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful .. CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL!  You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up!  Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You  know you always forget to salt them. Use the salt. USE THE SALT! THE  SALT!'

The wife  stared at him. 'What in the world is wrong with you? You think I don't  know how to fry a couple of eggs?'

The husband calmly replied,  'I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm  driving
