RIDE REPORT
May 18th
Lawrence
On a nice sunny
day, 13 bikes and 2 trikes took 16 people for a ride to Lawrence. Led by Keith
we rode up the highway to Tucabia for coffee where Jim won the raffle. Louise
stayed on the punt jetty waiting for Jeff on his trike, who reported later he
had lost 4th gear, so we all had to keep a look out when riding
home. Nambucca branch was supposed to meet us at the Lawrence pub but they did
not show. Rob and Louise rode up with us
but could not guess what had happened. Please consider leading a ride in the
future to give the few who do a rest. You would be well supported. You don’t
have to go to the ride meeting just say if you could do a simple ride.
Keith. ******************************************************
Nymboida Loop Ride
1/6/08
Despite things looking pretty bleak on Friday, Sunday
turned into a good riding day. Around 10 bikes showed up at the Bailey Centre,
some new faces and bikes amongst them. Most of the regulars were at the
Townsville AGM.
We accumulated John
Howley at the Sawtell turn off and "Devilish Dave" on his Deauville
at Dorrigo. We had a reasonable run up the mountain with one kind motorist
waving us past at the second waterfall.
Despite some pleas to do
the longer loop, the Lad used all sorts of excuses to lead the group on the
Bostabrick route. Truth be known, it is one of his favourite roads!
Everyone survived the
many corners to Nymboida, though some were harassed by a cattle truck
going the other way. Those that hadn't visited the 'Old Coach Station' at
Nymboida were most impressed, mutterings were heard
that 'I must bring the wife out here one day'.
While re fueling at
Coutes Crossing, a group of sports bikes growled past in the direction of Grafton, don't think they were impressed at going past us
again after we had taken the Braunston short cut.
We are now looking
forward to the Baryulgil Picnic in 2 weeks time. There was some mention of the
need for rain gear as Wayne 'Rainy' is leading the ride!
The Lad
PS. Eric Field pulled up
for lunch and discovered he had lost his top box, cause he only just finished
fixing it hadn’t he. So keep your eye out for it when doing the loop.
Baryulgil 15/06/2008
Warning: This report may contain sexual
references, possible nudity and R rated language!!!!!
The weather report for the day predicted scattered
showers but alas blue skies and sunshine prevailed. About 20 people
headed out from the Bailey Centre to the coffee stop in Grafton.
First problem one trike missing in action! Found
at the coffee shop. After coffee set off to Baryulgil, same trike went
missing again, lost in action. Most of us arrived at the river
& went walk-a-bout, while Paul and Lyn went for a wee walk by
themselves (Lyn was scared of snakes, why take Paul????). There was some
suggestion of a skinny dip, not to mention any names but we don't know if you
should let him out without you Sue. Picnic lunch while
listening to lots of tall stories, very relaxing.
Everyone left for home safely, ride leader stopped
to make a phone call from the public phone (due to Telstra's wonderful
coverage!), to check on first trikes whereabouts. All good, trike safe n sound
at home after a scenic ride. Ride leader caught up to and passed second trike
(Geoff & Carol), a few k's later stopped to talk to a local. Second trike
missing in action!!!! After a bit of back tracking, we came across one male
walking along road, story was 'out of petrol' or was it just parking???? We
supplied enough fuel to get back to the local's house where we scrounged some
more, nice fellow, thanks Keith. After re-fuelling in Grafton
all re-grouped at Halfway Creek for coffee. Geoff was discussing with
Carol if he should take her home, or just go to his place and re adjust the
footpegs so she could ride home but decided she looked a bit tired actually
'rooted' so he would take her home, everyone erupted in to laughter (yeh sure
you ran out of petrol!!). Eventful day, but not one drop of
precipitation!

MEMBERS NEWS
John Bambey is home. Will be at
coffee on Sat.
To those 40 members who attended the AGM
in Townsville will be aware
that Annette Plates injured her
ankle. I had a call from Sandy Jones,
they were at Mt Isa, to say that Annette
had had her ankle Xrayed and
it showed a crack in one of her bones so
the ankle is now in plaster.
The Dr. has said it is OK for her to
continue.
Coffs Coast also collected another
plaque, for the raising of
$20,000.00 at our AGM. This was
due to Fay Johnstons hard work with
gathering prizes for the raffle.
See you at coffee Saturday Shirley

RELAY FOR LIFE
Tony & Jan Lawler, Brian & Joyce O'Neill, Joan Anderson, Barry and I
went along to help with the survivors morning tea at
the Relay for Life on May 31st. It was a really uplifting morning,
to see so many people come out in support of this was great.
We didn't have a very difficult job, making tea/coffee (and drinking some),
cutting up cakes & muffins (and eating some), and then cleaning up
after the morning tea. We got to have a great time catching up!!
The organisers were very appreciative of our assistance and hoped that we (or
people from the club) would be able to help again next year. We got a lot out
of the morning and would recommend it for next year. Marg Goldsby Smith

ANOTHER OF ANDREW’S AEROPLANE
JOKES
Two men dressed in Pilots' uniforms
walk up the aisle of the plane. Both are wearing dark glasses, one is using a
guide dog, and the other is tapping his way along the aisle with a cane.
Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin, but the men enter the
cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start up.
The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some
sign that this is just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming.
The plane moves faster and faster down the runway and the people sitting
in the window seats realize they're heading straight for the
water at the edge of the airport. As it begins to look as though the
plane will plough into the water, panicked screams fill the cabin.
Just at that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air. The passengers
relax and laugh a little sheepishly, and soon all retreat into their magazines,
secure in the knowledge that the plane is in good hands.
In the cockpit, one of the blind pilots turns to the other and says,
"You know, Bob - one of these days, they're gonna scream too late and
we're all gonna die
