Ride for Difference - 20th April ‘08
The Ride 4 Difference in Canberra is a joint effort by the MRA, Girls on the Move and Ulysses.
I arrived early at the Acton Peninsula start point, thinking I’d be one of the first – to be met by about 40 bikes already there!! And they kept pouring in – from scoots to vintage bikes to outfits – every type of bike and rider represented.
Off we went, straight down Northbourne Ave – the lights providing a few breaks in the run, and then off to Gundaroo to the sportsground and the markets. Many bikes were entered into the Show and Shine – a smorgasbord of motorbikes! Ron Delizio welcomed us and talked a bit about the work of the Ride 4 Difference Foundation – and fantastic news that Canberra Hospital will be a beneficiary of the Foundation as well. Sophie, her brother Mitchell, and mother Caroline were also there to give support to the ride and the riders, and to thank everyone for their support.
Lyn Munday, Katie Marshall, Judy Perry and Sylvia Sinfield and others spent time selling raffle tickets – raising over $1000 on the day – fantastic effort!! It was just SSOOOO good to see so many Ulysses members there, including Tony and Sue and their new(ish) little daughter, and Gillian Stead as well – many of you know Gillian who was a very active member of the club for many many years.
Derek gave Sophie and Mitch a few rides around the oval – check the photos, I think the smiles say it all!!
