It was a bright sunny morning, however a little cool for our ride to Cordeaux Dam for the memorial ride. There were 20 bikes and 22 people in total. A good turnout for a quick trip down sesame street.

We departed BP Watson at 8.45am and headed down the concrete for a morning stop at the BP at Marulan. Peter Arday and Caroline Palin took off at a great rate of knots!! But they had fun! We all caught up with Pete and Caroline just before turning into the BP as they had back off heaps... May have been the scare of the ‘anywhere, anytime’ van parked on the side of the road. Although Pete ensured all those on radio knew the whereabouts of the van. But the red P plater who decided to overtake Pete and Caroline at a great rate of knots when they had backed off before the van was sighted, may not have her licence for too much longer!!

A quick refuel for some, a cuppa for others and then we headed off again to our destination and Pete and Caroline decided to have another ‘play’ and beat all of us to Cordeaux dam by about 10 minutes – good going guys...

Canberra Branch were the first to arrive of the big groups and then slowly the others started to arrive. A sea of bikes, what a great sight. I hear there was approximately 180 motorcycles.

The official speeches got underway and Old No 1 was there this year and spoke as did a few other of our mates/friends who have ridden on. Then the BBQ was cooked and we all enjoyed a sausage sandwich and some cake!

About 12.45pm most decided to leave for the trip home, some headed down the coast road, some down sesame street and some decided to check out the dam wall.

All in all it was a great day for a ride, good company and good to catch up with old friends again, who we may only see once or twice a year. A BIG thank you to Trevor and the members of MacArthur Branch for hosting the day and providing the food.

Cheers
Darryl
