A rare sunny morning dawned on this particular Sunday. With all of the rain and flooding of late it’s been hard not to be a slightly frustrated motorcyclist. However, for this day the weather forecast only contained a hint of rain for later in the day.
The meeting point this day was the Watson service station so as to do a clockwise loop of down the Clyde Mountain to Narooma and up the Brown Mountain on the way home. Unfortunately, for Al and Lyn Munday, they had made use of an ancient draft copy of the Ride Calendar that had the ride starting from Hume, so arrangements were made to meet them in Braidwood for morning tea.
The main group headed off for a pleasant ride on very pleasant quiet roads all the way to Braidwood. After a half hour stop and coffees and pastries consumed, we headed out to descend the Clyde and on to Narooma.
Lunch was had at Taylor’s the Fish and Chip emporium that sits overlooking the Wagonga Inlet. Being land-locked Canberrans, with rarely a chance to sample sea food by the sea, most of us ordered a plate of fish and chips of some kind. The Sea Gulls (and one Galah) were keen to have any food that was left unpatrolled so the waitress kindly brought out squirting bottles to keep the pests at bay. Predictably, it didn’t take long before the squirting bottles were used on each other rather than the Sea Gulls.
We re-fuelled at Narooma and headed off at about 1pm for the homeward journey. The roads were almost eerily quiet for the South Coast in summer and we had a very stress free cruise to Nimmitabel for a refreshing drink and to say our good byes.
Another great day out!!!
