Club ride to Grenfell 5/7/09
Twenty five riders and pillions turned out at the Café’ Injoy for a long ride to Grenfell for lunch. We were joined by a few more riders after we got under way. As we had a long ride with only five hours to complete it we rode at a steady pace with our first stop at Boorowa for coffee and a pit stop. Half an hour later we again hit the road to Cowra. Forty minutes or so later we arrived at Cowra. Some need fuel and thus there was a scramble to servos and to rejoin the ride as quickly as possible. The Moto GP bods would be impressed with the refuelling efforts as we all made it to Grenfell sort of together. The troops then dispersed to various greasy spoons for lunch. Some who had time before leaving to pack homemade lunch ate with a fellow named Henry Lawson. Apparently he is well known in the area and wrote a story or two. On the road again at 2pm and heading to Young. Some riders were very brave and raced of ahead of the rest of us to clear the way of any potential hazards i.e. highway patrols. It worked as the only things we passed were three Harleys that left Grenfell 10 mins before us. They did catch us but only after we stopped. We collected the forerunners and departed Young via the Moppity road. 15 or so clicks down the Moppity we turned right onto Barwang road which took us into Harden where we said our goodbyes ten haeded for home in sort of a loose group. Some people still needed more therefore another stop at the service centre at Yass.
The weather for the ride was cool to start with and except for the sunshine at Grenfell stayed cool all day. Still a great ride on pretty good roads with very nice people.
Thanks for joining and I hope enjoying the ride. St. Pedro
