Sunday 22nd May 2011 Grenfell ride.

Firstly I am going to apologise to members if this ride report is not up to scratch, it is my first attempt at one (thanks Ian), has too much information, is too short, or any other complaint, including not enough information, although if you need more well you should have been there!

8 riders showed up at Caltex Nichols for the ride to Grenfell under blue skies with the threat of thunderstorms, after some hellos and introductions our leader for the day and President Ian, discussed the direction for the day, after some input from ST Peter it was decided to leave the Boorowa road alone due to road works.

It was then decided due to the threat of wet stuff falling from the sky that we would make straight for Grenfell without a coffee stop. Now here is where the lack of information comes into it because if I had known I was going to do the ride report I might have taken more notice of road & town names instead of just playing follow the leader and look at the lovely scenery.

After what seemed like an eternity we arrived in Grenfell, fuelled up and headed for the main street and lunch, we broke into two groups at two different cafe’s for lunch. The outside group were joined by one of the locals, who seemed to love our chips.Dave, Shane, Joe and John at Grenfell 1

After some excellent food and good conversation it was time to hit the road in hope of beating the wet stuff, after some deliberation we headed for Boorowa along some at times wet and winding back country roads, luckily Peter had his GPS working because again I had no idea where we were. Lots of left & right turns more little country towns with some marvellous buildings (mental note; must find out where we were so I can go back & have a better look in the future) we arrive in Boorowa for a coffee and cake stop.

Back on the trusty steed again and heading for home avoiding the road works we went to Binalong, more tiny, often wet country roads. By now the clouds were really growing black and menacing and once we hit the freeway I think it became a dash to see who could get home before the rain set in.

I would like to thank my fellow riders for a most enjoyable day hope we get to do it again soon.
