RIDE REPORT – SUNDAY 22 APRIL TO BERRIMAH
Attended by Garry McCulky VFR800 [Ride Leader], Judy [Vespa 250], Mark [VN1500[, Flip [Virago750], Andrew [GL1800], Darren & Jenny [VFR750], Peter & Cheryl [R1150R], Kerry [CB1000[, Janet [Burgman 650], Mike [KTM990Adj], Hamish [VFR800].
Light patchy rain in the northern suburbs did not deter the robust bunch. It was noted that one pillion preferred to take the dog to a birthday party rather than attend.
Very little time was spent on the highway as we passed through Bungendore, Tarago, and many other lovely back roads via Bungonia and Wingelo. Then to Berrimah which was ‘probably not far’ from a coffee and fuel stop at Marulan, where wet weather gear was removed.
Berrimah was busy with tourists and there were plenty of shops to take your $s. Indian wedding chutney was purchased in bulk. Garry had his obligatory ice cream [death by chocolate and raspberry] which he did not share. The Squatters Arms Hotel had a variety of lunch styles with indoor and outdoor seating. A family with three small boys sat on the curb to watch and wave us goodbye.
Peter A was spotted loitering around toilet block at Goulburn
We made a final stop in a private room at the Lynwood Café at Collector to enjoy good coffee and friendly service. There is outside seating with a river view. Ulyssians have in the past not appreciated this bike friendly spot. This could be explained by a not too hospitable response from a rogue on a previous inquiry. Our group believes that it must have been from the now deceased bush ranger whose portrait [pictured] hangs above the fireplace. We look forward to a stop there in the near future when the open fire is going.
