The riders:
David and Heather - Sprint 1050 Gary Dunne - Kwaka VN900 Peter Boothman - Yamaha Venture Trevor McLeod - FJR1300A John Storn - FJR1300A Mark Walker - VN1500 Gordon White - Hyosung GT650S Suzie and Tony Zakis - Kwaka ZX-10 Pete Buse - Virago 1100S Jen Woods - XVS650
This day had an unsteady start with showers, and I’m told it was pouring at Jerrabomberra – lucky this ride was a Chomp and Chat because with the later start came the clear skies. We applied EUT (Eastern Ulysses Time) at Hume, lurking and chatting until well after the start time, then it was time to hoon off after Trevor.
We settled in at the Moon Rock café, after rearranging the furniture as usual. Gary reminisced about his “California dreamin” days, and laid claim to being the youngest Ulysses member at only 10 years of age – well, that’s what happens when you celebrate your birthday on 29th February.
Peter asked for advice about buying bike boots for his wife, which led to hips being dislocated as feet were lifted to table height to show off a particular brand!! Yes, many and varied! (boots, not hips…)
The weather closed in and the thunder roared (it reads better than “I heard thunder”) so that led to another round of coffee and more food being consumed – and more trips to the toilet!
Heading back after the skies cleared, most riders headed the long way back to the north side, with just two of us heading back home in Tuggeranong – and no rain. Another good run.
