New Home!

Having been moved on from the RSL Club which has served us so well these past few years, we have found a new “home”. The Italo Australian Club on the corner of Franklin St and National Circuit, Forrest, will be providing a large meeting room at no charge, with an urn so we can make coffee and teas after the meeting. There is plenty of off road parking, and the club has two restaurants. Membership fees are $5.00 for 1 year, $10.00 for 3 years, with a discount for seniors ($3 for 1 year).

Several people helped in the search for a new meeting place – thankyou very much, your assistance is appreciated. Some clubs that were contacted did not have a meeting room large enough, or the restaurant did not open, or my call was not returned (off the Christmas list).

There is a small “gotcha” with the Italo Club, and that is for the November and December meetings, we will be meeting in the small bar area as “our room” has bookings for those two months only - a slight inconvenience which hopefully won’t cause too much angst. However from January we’ll be upstairs.

Next week when we meet, I have asked for a sign in sheet to be made available for those of you who aren’t a member already, and you can then fill in the membership form in your own time – I did mine there today and it was very quick. Still, 30 people all at once expecting to join would be a nightmare.

Now, getting the word out there to everyone is problematic – we’ll pop info on the website, and of course the newsletter, but if you know someone who doesn’t receive email, please let them know of the change of meeting place. I’ll also try to get a small notice put up on the door of the RSL.
