At the 2019  AGM held in Mornington, Dianna Glover #31050 was awarded Dearnley Medal #70. This was the submission made to the National Committee

Dianna bought her first bike and learnt to ride when she turned forty and joined Ulysses shortly after on the 17th February 2003. She joined the branch committee soon after, and during her time on the committee carried out the roles of Committee member, Newsletter Editor, Webmaster, Treasurer, Secretary and was President from 2012 until 2016. Dianna took over as President of the branch at a very turbulent time. On rides there was the “committee table”, and then “the others”. It became secretive and “clicky”, with a lot of the original branch members feeling left out, and new members not feeling welcome. Dianna brought about a strong feeling of unity and turned the branch around and numbers steadily grew, as old members returned and new members joined. Also encouraging members who could no longer ride to join the rides and social events in their cars. She was a very popular President and known as the “quiet achiever” always working in the background.

Her efforts outside the branch have been just as admirable:
In 2007 she took on the role of Site & Services director for the 2010 AGM event in Albany, overseeing Traders, Camping, Gear shop and Events and Functions.
Ran the Gear shop at the Alice Springs and Launceston events.
Volunteered at many of the other AGM events doing various tasks.
Helped set up and run displays at W.A. Motorbike shows.
Ran registrations at 3 W.A. Odysseys.
Ran registrations, gear shop and organized all the food at 9 W.A. Rallies.
Makes 3 dozen scones every month for our branch Maintenance days and has done since the very beginning.
Has been a National Committee minute typist for her husband, NAGMEC minute taker and typist at Mildura, Alice Springs and Launceston events.
In 2016 she encouraged and invited all WA Branch members to attend the Memorial Ride for members who have Ridden On by including a sausage sizzle lunch after the service for all in attendance. This idea has now been adopted by the hosting Branches each year which has proven to be very popular as numbers have improved.
Volunteering and Charity Fund Raiser has always been an important role for her and always goes above and beyond, that “extra mile” for everyone who needs assistance in any way whether it be a member, the Branch or the Club. She has taken all suggestions and confidences personally and lends a helping hand. Her happy, kind and generous nature adds to the happy atmosphere that we have gained from her presence.

The National Committee congratulate Dianna and thanks her for her service
