Michael Morgan – Morgan Motors , Emerald . QLD. -Motor Trades Automotive Institute.

I was recently delighted to learn that I’ve been chosen as the Zone winner for Ulysses QLD and NT Motorcycle  Apprentice Of The Year.
I currently live in Emerald QLD and have been here my whole life, I work in our family business “Morgan Motors” with my parents and sister and have done so on and off from a young age. The business was started in 1999 and is owned by my parents Dean and Michelle Morgan. The dealership has been proudly selling and repairing Hondas since the doors opened.

From a young age I have always found myself interested in “tinkering’ with things and I am probably best known for not being able to leave well enough alone. My hobbies have typically revolved around this with project cars and bikes taking up a lot of time and money, much to my girlfriend’s disgust! My other interests include a burning desire to go fishing!
Since completing Grade 12 here in Emerald I have completed my CERT III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (heavy vehicle) and since starting at Morgan Motors am now in my 4th year of a CERT III in Motorcycle Mechanical Technology. I have also completed multiple levels of training within the Honda franchise which I have found extremely helpful in my transition from fixing trucks to fixing motorbikes!
The majority of motorcycle needs in our region has always been for agricultural applications. This has led to most of my experience being based around ATV, Ag bikes and SXS buggies. I also have exposure to Honda Marine, Honda Power Equipment and Husqvarna Power Equipment. Having  agricultural customers means we do see quite a few rough and poorly maintained bikes. Lucky for me that I enjoy engine rebuilds and solving complex electrical/mechanical faults as I find a lot of satisfaction in fixing things others can’t!
My motorcycle apprenticeship training has been with MTAQ and my trainer has been Peter Jaensch. I’d like to thank Peter as he has been an extremely good trainer and I have enjoyed learning lots of new things with him. Peter has also nominated me for apprentice of the month within MTAQ which I won for February last year.
In the near future I aspire to have my own apprentice to whom I can pass on some of the knowledge I have gained in the industry. A major goal that both myself and my sister Caroline have as time goes on is to take over from our parents in running the family business.
I would like to proudly thank the Ulysses Club Inc for this opportunity and for the recognition of my efforts. I would also like to thank my family for their support.
